A Debt of Honour

About This Book

SEVEN THOUSAND POUNDS WORTH OF PERIL Lord Peter Chalmsforth could barely believe his eyes when he saw Miss Fiona Guthrie waiting for him in his drawing room. Just a short time before, this independent young lady had made clear how little she wanted to have to do with him. He could hardly believe his ears when she spoke: "When you first met me in the library at my home, you made me a certain proposition. You said I could ask my price for spending a night with you." Fiona raised her chin slightly. "I am now asking for seven thousand pounds for that night." No sooner had the shameful words rolled off Fiona's tongue when she wondered if she was indeed in her right mind. If she found it so repugnant to marry for money, how, in this dreadfully unfair world, would she ever find the courage to pay such an outrageously indecent price for her freedom...?
