Focus on GIS component software

About This Book

"Focus on GIS Component Software explains the significance of component technology for professionals, managers, and programmers across the business spectrum, not just geographic information system (GIS) experts. The first half of the book is oriented toward decision makers and technical managers, explaining the general business case for the use of software components, and how the GIS industry is leading the way in this area of technology. The technical architecture of software components and their many applications are also detailed. The second half of the book is oriented toward programmers. Through hands-on tutorials using Visual Basic and ESRI's MapObjects, it illustrates how to use software components to create, display, and query data. The companion CD-ROM provides an evaluation version of MapObjects 1.1, as well as exercise files."--Jacket.
