About This Book

When scientist Morton Serviss meets Viola Lambert in a Western mining town, he is much taken by her beauty and manner. On discovering that she is a psychic medium, however, he beats a quick retreat back East. Viola soon follows him to Boston under the wing of her pastor-turned-Spiritualist, who hopes to use her powers to convince a doubting public, and Morton is forced to set aside his skepticism to rescue Viola from the dark forces that threaten to overwhelm her.
